"Genesis" 30x40

I posted this one back a couple of weeks ago, but I added to it (it has bronze, pewter, pearl sort of weeping from the branches). It was named "Cypher" but I renamed it "Genesis" as it symbolizes a birth of a new life.  This will be shown at Gallery Expo for the month of August.

36x48 "The Bridge Between"

Please excuse the horrible glare on this one. I got impatient and wanted to post it. I usually shoot them in the morning light. This one is done except for the varnish I need to do, and of course the method I use brings the metalics/pigments out so much more.  The top symbolizes heaven and the bottom sybolizes earth, the light between them is a bridge connecting the two.

unfinished 3 piece-center is 12x12

I was listening to Mozart's piano sonata #8 (aka..."Pathetique") and Moonlight Sonata while painting this. as well as the one I just recently posted.  I find those two sonatas to be so compelling-so sorrowful.  I've been thinking of my dad a lot recently and how he is.

"Senseless Sorrow" 16x40 unfinished

One of my current paintings has a compelling theme behind it.  My soul has been overcome over the past few years about the senseless rapes and murder of women and children in Africa.   The horrific rape as a method of war in the Congo and other parts of Africa is devastating the people on a physical and psychological level.  The problem is escalating and children as young as 6 months old are being abused.
So, this piece is not a happy one but perhaps it can bring more awareness to people.  When you're sipping your wine and relaxing watching your children pray perhaps you can send a prayer out. I am looking into seeing what reputable organizations can take donations what we can do to help. I know that I will be donating proceeds to a percentage of my work sold.

Happy Birthday to our little girl!

My youngest daughter of four is four years old today. Happy Birthday my sweet little Drew. Our life (I know mine is) is richer in the soul and has reached deeper fulfillment with you in it. I am blessed to be your mama. I love you Drew Bailey. You are one of a hand full of reasons for me to exist!

"Cypher" 30x40

I had a dream a few months back (yes, this is another dream influenced one) and I was out with a friend checking out some galleries. We were walking outside and a 8.1 earthquake hit, and the reason I know the magnitude was because someone had told us it was centered at our home in Long Beach.  I immediately panicked for my kids and starting running to our car to get to them. This beautiful man with this inner light stopped us, he looked at me and said with great gentleness  that my girls would be fine.  Then this man opened his hand to reveal this star like object (similar in shape to the center of the painting) that glowed within itself. He called it a cypher, which I looked it up and the word has many meanings from 1.The process of tapping into your subconcious. A state of mind where thoughts and actoins flow from your mind rather than being instrumented, 2.- a mathematical element that when added to another number yields the same number.  These are just a couple. Interesting, nonetheless!
